Water Softener Installation & Service on O'ahu
Hard water leaves scale on fixtures, shortens appliance life, and makes soap and shampoo less effective. A water softener removes the calcium and magnesium that cause these problems — protecting your plumbing and your family.

What We Do
Water Softener Services
Everything from a new system install to regular salt refills and resin replacement.
Water Softener Installation
We size and install whole-house water softening systems that connect to your main supply line, treating all the water in your home. We handle permits, installation, and startup testing.
Water Softener Repair
Softener not regenerating? Water feels hard again? Brine tank issues? We diagnose and repair all brands of ion-exchange and salt-free softeners.
Salt Refill & Maintenance
A water softener requires regular salt replenishment and periodic resin cleaning. We offer maintenance plans so your system performs optimally year-round without you thinking about it.
System Replacement
Older softeners lose efficiency and can start adding too much sodium to water. We assess your current system and replace it if a new unit is more cost-effective than ongoing repairs.
Salt-Free Conditioning
Some homeowners prefer salt-free water conditioning systems that treat hard water without adding sodium and without the ongoing salt cost. We install and service template-assisted crystallization (TAC) systems.
Softener + Filter Combo
Many homes benefit from pairing a water softener with a water filtration system. The softener handles hardness and scale; the filter handles taste, chlorine, and sediment. We design combined systems for complete water quality.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Is O'ahu water hard?
O'ahu's water hardness varies by source and location. Water from the Board of Water Supply is generally considered moderately hard. If you're seeing scale deposits on fixtures, running through showerheads quickly, or have appliances failing early, a water softener will likely make a noticeable difference.
How does a water softener work?
A traditional ion-exchange water softener replaces hard water minerals (calcium and magnesium) with sodium ions as water passes through a resin bed. The resin is periodically recharged using a salt brine solution. Salt-free conditioners work differently — they change the structure of the minerals so they don't stick to surfaces, without actually removing them.
Will a water softener make my water taste salty?
Properly sized and functioning water softeners add only a small amount of sodium — typically 20–40 mg per liter, which is far below the threshold of tasting salty. If your softened water tastes salty, the system may need adjustment. For zero sodium addition, consider a salt-free conditioner or pair the softener with an RO drinking water filter.
How much salt does a water softener use?
A typical family of four uses 6–8 bags of salt per year for a standard water softener. High-efficiency systems use less. We'll give you a realistic salt consumption estimate based on your household size and water hardness level.
Do water softeners require a lot of maintenance?
The main ongoing task is refilling the salt brine tank every 2–3 months. Once a year, we recommend having the resin bed cleaned and the system inspected. We offer annual maintenance plans that cover inspection and cleaning so you don't have to track it yourself.
